NYS paper exam vs the MBLEx
New York does not take the national computer test. If you studied like you were sitting MBLEx, you studied the wrong exam.
March or September: pick a date and work backward
New York gives you two shots a year. Missing one is not a vibe. It is six months of rent, panic, and a calendar you already knew about.
You need 70%. That is about 42 wrong, not a vibe.
One in three items can go sideways. Eastern and treatment planning are where that budget disappears.
How to take a paper exam with a pencil and a clock
No flag button. No strike-through that the computer remembers. You need a mark system you can still read at question 120.
The night before: stop studying
Meridians at midnight do not add points. They add a 3 a.m. wake-up and a shaky first page.
If you fail in March, you do not 'review harder' until September
Six months of the same highlighter is how you pay for a second booklet with the same misses.
How to use the two memory tips without memorizing the mnemonic
If the hook does not spit the answer in two seconds, it is a poem. Poems do not pass.
Login is not full access
Login is identity. It is not a paid NYS membership. The 25-question trial is the free account. The cram sheet is not.
The 20 TCM items: Five Element, meridians, organ clock.
The 20 Eastern questions are not extra credit
Wood is liver and green. Earth is spleen and yellow. Mix those colors on exam day and you just donated points.
The organ clock is not a personality test
3 to 5 a.m. is Lung time on the chart they test. It is not your sleep-hygiene brand.
Strokes, planning, red flags, anatomy traps, lymph.
Stroke names the exam actually tests
Spastic limb? You want easy gliding, not percussion. The stem is telling you the nervous system is already too loud.
Treatment planning is 37 questions of “what would you do”
Most appropriate does not mean every option is wrong. It means one of them is the adult in the room.
Contraindications the stem is begging you to see
Fever, a sprain from half an hour ago, heat on a red hot joint. The fancy stroke is bait.
Left hemiplegia is the body, not the brain
Hemiplegia names the weak side you can see. A left-body weakness is typically a right-hemisphere story. Do not write 'left side stroke' on the stem.
Origins and insertions that show up as trap options
Short head to coracoid. Long head to the supraglenoid tubercle, not 'the glenoid' because you got tired.
Lymph questions: feet, proximal first, and what the brain does not have
Clear the thigh before you chase the ankle. The brain lacks a classic plexus. It is not a desert with no drainage at all.
Scope, TENS, draping, consent, ads that get you in trouble.
TENS is not in your scope. Neither is that Facebook rule.
TENS units belong to someone else's license. Your hands, and the tools the statute actually allows, are the job.
Draping, consent, and the ethics items people call obvious
Professional Standards is about 30% of the exam. 'I would never do that' is not an answer choice.

Advertising, titles, and the complaint that starts with a Google listing
You can be excellent at massage. You cannot be a 'pain specialist MD-adjacent healer' on a landing page because it books.

36 hours, 3 years, 12 from the couch. Stop inventing a yearly quota.
Twelve is a self-instruction cap, not a legal 'per year' pace. The cycle is 36 hours.

CE that still helps you on the table, not just a certificate PDF
If every hour is the same webinar with a new title, your hands will not notice you 'learned.'

Your first renewal is a different animal than year six
New licensees treat the first cycle like school still covers them. It does not.

If you leave New York, your license does not come with you
Passing NYS paper is not MBLEx. MBLEx is not NYS. Packing the car does not convert either one.
